..... leading organizations to succeed
Thompson Rivers University offers a Bachelor of Technology – Trades & Technology Leadership degree program that builds upon the candidate’s trades or technology qualifications, integrating their previous practical experience with studies in leadership and management skills.
This new program, the only one of its kind in Canada, is aimed at allowing certified tradespeople and technologists to gain the business and leadership knowledge needed for management and other advanced positions. Delivered primarily on-line (along with two short, on-campus courses), TRU recognizes that many tradespeople or technologists wishing to advance in their careers would already be working in their chosen field and so require flexible learning options.
Thompson Rivers University’s leadership degree includes:
-
Credit for previous trades/technology education and expertise - Thompson Rivers University will recognize previous knowledge as satisfying part of the credits required to receive the degree. Credit assessment will be according to TRU policies.
-
Flexibility and accessibility for working persons - Most courses will be available online so that an individual can study from their home with the schedule that suits them.
-
Choice of elective courses that suit the individual’s particular needs - It is intended that only the core leadership courses be prescribed. In recognizing that each individual will require different knowledge in their particular industry, position and organization, each person will be able to access suitable elective courses as part of the credit towards the degree. Further, they will be able to take these elective courses at other institutions, if it is convenient.
