We Welcome International Students to Adventure Programs at TRU!

Numerous international students attend  TRU Adventure Studies Department programs. If you are an international applicant, the following information will help you understand the process for applying as an international student.

English Language Requirements

Studies at TRU are held in English. The English requirements for international students are as fWhitewater Raftingollows:

  • A minimum TOEFL score of 550 Paper based or, or

  • An IELTS minimum score of 6.0, or

  • Completion with a minimum C+ grade in Level 4 of TRU English as a Second Language Program.


International Student Applications to TRU

An applicant to TRU who is not a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant is considered an international student. Admission as an International Student to the Adventure Sport Certificate, Adventure Managment Diploma, Adventure Guide Diploma and CMSG (Canadian Mountain and Ski Guide) Diploma

If you are interested in attending the Adventure Sport Certificate, Adventure Management Diploma, Adventure Guide Diploma or the CMSG Diploma as an international student, you must apply to TRU International Student Admissions for acceptance to attend the university and to the Adventure Studies Department for admission to the Adventure Sport Certificate, Adventuer Management Diploma, Adventure Diploma or CMSG program. p5170127

Spaces are limited in this program and although International Student Admissions can admit you to TRU, the selection of students to the Adventure Guide Diploma and the CMSG Diploma is done by Adventure Studies Department faculty.

You will be required to submit a resume and a trip log.

Diploma Fees

Fees in the Adventure Guide Diploma are based upon a combination of TRU international student tuition AND Adventure Guide Diploma activity fees. For international students, these fees total approximately CDN$7,500-10,000 per semester, depending on course selection. The Adventure Guide Diploma is comprised of four semesters of study.

Admission as an International Student to the Bachelor of Tourism Management in Adventure Studies Degree

We encourage international students to attend the Bachelor of Tourism Management in Adventure Studies degree. This degree includes a Major in Adventure Studies and Minors in Adventure Tourism International Development and Adventure Studies. Field trips include eco and adventure tourism community development in Chile each year.

Bachelor of Tourism Management - Adventure Studies Fees

Fees in the Bachelor of Tourism Management in Adventure Tourism are based on a combination of TRU international student tuition AND international field trip fees if you participate in it. For international students, these fees total approximately CDN$6,255.00 per semester. The Bachelor of Tourism Management Degree is comprised of eight semesters of study. The international development field trip costs approximately CDN$3,000.
