The Hiking Guide Certificate
Assistant Hiking Guide
This course/exam is designed to train participants to guide day hikes and multi-day backpacking trips on and off trail in mountain terrain. Assistant Hiking Guides work under the supervision of a Hiking Guide, Alpine Guide or Mountain Guide.
Hiking Guide Certificate
This exam is the completion of the Hiking Guide certification. It is designed to train and certify individuals who have completed their apprenticeship as Assistant Hiking Guides. Hiking Guides are certified to guide day hikes and multi-day backpacking trips in all types of hiking terrain without supervision. This course does not include travel on permanent snow, glaciated, or scrambling terrain.
