The Writing Centre
Whether you are an undergraduate or graduate student, staff member or faculty at TRU, the Writing Centre can assist you by providing feedback on your writing. Both beginning and professional writers benefit from feedback on their work.
During the semester, you may receive help with any stage of the writing process, including generating ideas; organizing; managing issues of sentence structure, grammar, punctuation and documentation; revision and editing. You may also choose to come in without a draft for help with a specific writing problem. It's often useful for students to bring a paper that has been graded so that we can explain how to correct problems.
Writing can be a lonely activity; having an audience to reflect back to you the effect of your words can be useful for writers at all levels. The Writing Centre is not, however, a proofreading service. Its goal is, rather, to help you become a more skilled and confident writer.
Location and Hours
We have moved back to OM 2674. Although the hours vary from semester to semester, our goal is to provide tutor drop-in coverage as a minimum from 9 am until 4:30 pm and later when we have staff and volunteers available. You are welcome to make an appointment or drop in.
The Writing Centre opens for the Winter semester on January 9 and closes April 20.From January 9 to April 20, the Writing Centre hours will begin as follows; however, the later hours Tuesday and Thursday may be adjusted depending on usage:

The Centre is closed on weekends and holidays.
Online Help
We also have online help available using Elluminate videoconferencing software. We need 24 hours notice for these appointments, and when you contact us, be sure to specify that you want an 'online' appointment. For more information, click on the link called "Online Service."
