Peer Support Team

The Peer Support Team is comprised of student volunteers trained to listen to students in a non-judgmental manner. They act as a sounding board for students wanting to talk about any issue or problem they are experiencing in their lives. Confidentiality is respected. Peer Assistants are NOT counsellors. Therefore, depending on the scope of the issue, students may be referred to other services. At present, TRU has a team of eighteen students all of whom have undergone screening, criminal record checks, and peer support training. Each member commits to a minimum of two hours per week although many members volunteer more hours. The Peer Support Team may be reached by phone @ 250 371-5996, email: peer@tru.ca, or in OM1421.

The Peer Support Team will be recruiting and training new members in early September.
