How to Access Services:
You are an equal partner in your education and you are responsible for meeting deadlines and following the procedures prescribed by Disability Services (DS) in order to access the accommodations and services you will require. Completing the following steps will help you on your path to success at Thompson Rivers University.
- If you are considering becoming a TRU student (Open learning or on-campus) contact DS or review the website further for more information on our services.
- Once you know you will be attending, make an appointment with a Disability Services Advisor to discuss your needs and learn about the services for which you may be eligible – preferably 3 months prior to the start of classes. Make sure to bring your documentation about your disability with you.
- Apply for admission to TRU as early as possible.
- Let Disability Services know in advance if you will need admission or registration assistance.
- Important: If you are a returning student you must make an appointment with a DS Advisor prior to the start of classes to arrange for services for the current academic year. If you need services that require considerable lead time (e.g. interpreting, alternate format) please contact the office 3 months prior to the start of the school year.
The staff of Disability Services extends its best wishes on your success at TRU and we look forward to assisting you!
