General Information

Thompson Rivers University offers a comprehensive program of distance education courses in the sciences and health sciences. These courses benefit professionals who wish to:

  • Strengthen their theoretical knowledge.
  • Remain aware of the changes within their profession.
  • Advance in their chosen fields.
  • Facilitate their return to their profession after an extended absence.
  • Attain continuing education credits.
  • Complete courses at home.

You may choose a single course or a program of studies. All these courses are supported by a TRU course facilitator, are distance delivered, and follow an independent study format. These self contained courses allow you to effectively further your professional education while continuing to work and live in your community. Traditional classroom delivery cannot offer this flexibility.

Upon registration, all course materials are mailed to you. Each course package contains detailed instructions, a resource list, an outline of objectives, a study guide, and referenced self tests to help you monitor your progress. In addition, a TRU course facilitator will contact you, assist you as you work through the course, and work with you to arrange supervision of your examination(s).

In addition to the tuition cost of each course, you are responsible for obtaining the required text(s). If they are not available in your area, you may order them from the TRU Bookstore at Thompson Rivers University.

Tuition fees are reviewed annually and are subject to change without notice.

Withdrawal prior to or during the first or second week of instruction will be subject to a 100 percent refund of tuition.

Withdrawal after the second week of instruction — no refund.
