Science Degrees
There are several degree program options available within the Faculty of Science: Bachelor of Computing Science, Bachelor of Natural Resource Science, Bachelor of Science Program, and the Associate of Science Degree program. In addition, a Bachelor of Health Science is available via Open Learning. A brief description of each program is outlined below.

In addition to these programs, the Faculty of Science is excited to announce the approval of its first Masters program!! The Master of Science in Environmental Science began in September 2007.
1. Bachelor of Natural Resource Science
In a world where specialization is the norm in university training for careers in the natural science professions, the demand from industry and government agencies is increasingly for professionals who are generalists. The BNRS program addresses this need by providing a course of study that is unique in its scope and purpose. The program consists of 120 credit which can be completed in four or five years on a full-time basis or up 7 years on a part-time basis once admitted to the program
The purpose of the BNRS degree program is to prepare students for careers in a wide range of natural resource sector jobs and for further academic study in graduate school. The program goals are met by providing a unique combination of courses covering biology, ecology, scientific methods, and sector-specific resource management skills in a cooperative education format. Students will learn problem solving, oral and written communication skills, and integration of various disciplines in both an independent and team environment.
By understanding the scientific, economic, and social basis of natural resource issues, graduates of the program will be able to effectively interface between diverse interest groups, all having a stake in how our terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems are managed.
Courses and field work dealing with management of the various sectors give students technical skills in a wide variety of management disciplines Upon graduation, students will have acquired a wide range of technical abilities in assessing the status of ecosystems. This assessment covers aspects such as forestry, fisheries, range and wildlife management.
Possible areas of employment after completion of the BNRS degree include resource management and planning for government or industry, operational forestry, and teaching. In addition, the degree will qualify students for academic studies at the graduate level.

2. Bachelor of Science Program
The Bachelor of Science degree program is a rigorous program that provides students with both depth and breadth in their science education, emphasizes the acquisition of communication skills and promotes computer literacy. The program also provides flexibility so that students may pursue interests in disciplines outside there area of specialization. TRU offers three routes to a Bachelor of Science degree: a Majors Program in a specific discipline or disciplines, an Honours Program in a specific discipline (currently only available in Biology), or a General Science Degree Program.
For further information check out the department of your choice or the TRU calendar.
3. Associate of Science Degree
This is an option for students who are interested completing two years of study. It is often the route followed for those preparing to complete their studies in a selected profession such as optometry that is only offered at another institution. Associate Degrees are available in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geology, Mathematics, Computing Science, Pre-Chiropractic, Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Medicine, Pre-Naturopathic, Pre-Optometry and Pre-Veterinary Medicine.
For detailed information on course requirements in a specific area of study, please go the TRU calendar.
4. Bachelor of Health Science
This degree program is designed to provide health care diploma graduates from recognized programs and institutions with the opportunity to obtain a bachelor's degree related to their discipline.
The Bachelor of Health Science degree program offered through TRU-OL has been designed to :
- Provide academic recognition for advanced-level training in selected health disciplines and specialties
- Allow working health professionals to broaden their education and enhance their skills, knowledge, career options, and academic credentials without having ot leave the workforce for an extended period.
