Annual Events
Each year there are a number of fun and challenging events hosted by several different departments within the Faculty of Science. Some of these events are directed a elementary and high school students, while others are aimed at undergraduates within the university. There is ample opportunity to be involved either as a participant or a volunteer.
High School Chemistry Contest
The chemistry department offers a contest involving annual written tests, based on the BC curriculum for Chemistry 11 and 12 students. All Chemistry 11 and Chemistry 12 students are invited to participate. This year's contest will be on Wednesday, May 16, 2012. Please visit Chem Contest for more information.
Undergraduate Research Conference and Poster Day
Each year, upper level science students who have been working on research or projects at TRU are required to participate in a poster presentation day. Projects and presentation are judged by a team of professors and students and then graded based on the outcome. This year this event was combined with the 7th Annual TRU Undergrad Innovation and Research Conference. These events will take place on Friday, March 30 and Saturday, March 31, 2012.
This University-wide event has a history of being a rich and exciting opportunity for undergraduate students of all disciplines and backgrounds to present their research and other creative works, and to share their intellectual experiences and innovations with their peers in an engaging atmosphere. A wide variety of presentations are always welcome, including, but not limited to, oral presentations, art exhibitions, displays, research posters, and performances.
