What CDRD does for TRU

“The Centre for Drug Research and Development provides drug-development expertise and facilities to enable researchers throughout BC to develop promising drug candidates. Our organization draws on and develops discoveries made by scientists working in BC-based academic research and health institutions. Scientific and technical expertise guided by commercial insight allows our team to assess the chances that a discovery will result in a successful drug. We provide a collaborative framework through which drug development can become sustainable, cost-effective, and advantageous to society.” CDRD webpage

What this Means to You

CDRD is a very altruistic organization, founded by UBC, SFU, and provincial and federal government organizations. The Centre was formed to bridge that gap between a good discovery and a potential new/better drug therapies and treatments. RIGS pursued membership because we have talented faculty who have made good discoveries that may lead to better medicines and cures, but there is a big step between an initial discovery and a new product. Even big universities were struggling to move their discoveries forward to new products that could benefit the world. The CDRD was created to address these difficulties. TRU researchers have access to these resources.
