Sabbatical Leave

Section 14.1 - TRUFA Collective Agreement: April 1, 2004 - 2013 March 31, 2010

Sabbatical Leaves are to serve the objectives and goals of the University by providing tenured Members with a regular opportunity to maintain and enhance their academic and professional competence free from normal on‐campus teaching/professional and service obligations.  Sabbatical leaves are intended to promote scholarly and/or professional activity through sustained periods of concentrated study, contemplation, and creative work, and to promote the collaboration and exchange of knowledge and experiences.  It is expected that sabbatical leave projects have  a positive impact on the professional,  scholarly or creative productivity of the Member and on the programs at the University.

Application Deadlines

as summarized from TRUFA Collective Agreement: April 1, 2004 - 2013 March 31, 2010
  • Department Sabbatical Leave Committee Chair receives application by Oct. 1;
  • Committee recommends to Dean by Nov. 1;
  • Rebuttal must be submitted to the Dean by Nov. 5;
  • Dean makes recommendation and submits applications to the Chair of SLC by Nov. 15.
  • Rebuttals submitted by Nov. 20 to SLC (Chair);
  • SLC review; and Notification by Jan. 15.
