Our Roles
The office is the point of contact for the federal granting councils (NSERC, SSHRC, CIHR, CFI), government ministries, industry, associations and foundations for funding, partnerships, grants and contracts in support of research, creative and scholarly activities.
It promotes graduate, undergraduate and faculty research, and provides services for intellectual property management and commercialization. It also assists faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students to obtain funding for research.
In addition, the office is the central point of contact for external agencies and individuals to partner with TRU and its faculty members for pure and applied research, proof of concept and product development. It assists in the negotiation and preparation of contracts with external sponsors, actively recruits collaborators and licensees, and assures equitable distribution of the benefits of collaborative efforts. It fosters faculty, student, and community-driven businesses that involve TRU for the purpose of contributing new inventions and products to society, economic development, and generating a revenue stream to TRU.
