When should I apply?

Be sure to apply to your degree program as early as possible, and certainly by the stated application deadlines.  See the individual degree pages for complete information on deadlines and the application procedure.

Do I need a second language?

Yes, if you want to earn a Masters degree at TRU.  To satisfy the Masters language requirement, a student must have a second language to Grade 12 or six credits in a post-secondary language course.  TRU offers second language courses in Chinese, French, German, Japanese and Spanish.

Who do I contact if I need assistance with funding?

TRU's Financial Aid and Awards office is the main point of contact for all students on campus who are applying for or receiving Canadian Student Loans, and the Office of Research, Innovation Transfer and Graduate Studies oversees other internal and external grants.  They can provide aid and advice for students who are applying for funding.

How do I accept my admission offer?

Each of the program departments have their own acceptance procedures.  You will be instructed on these when you receive your program acceptance letter.  Be sure to complete any paper work, and pay any applicable fees, as soon as possible to avoid any delay in finalizing your application.

Can I defer or change my program start date?

The individual program departments are responsible for determining their own intake numbers and start dates, so if you would like to change your start date it is advised that you contact the head of your program to discuss your requirements.

When do I need to pay my student fees?

Students are required to pay a $300 commitment fee prior to registering for their program.  See Admissions and Registration for the deadline for payment of all tuition fees.

Do I need to take a placement test if English is not my first language?

If you have completed post-secondary education in an accredited program taught in English, or if you can provide evidence which shows that you have obtained English language proficiency to the minimum level required by TRU, then an exam is not required. However, if you have not demonstrated the required English language proficiency you will be required to take a placement test upon your arrival, and possibly further language studies before you can commence your degree program.  See TRU World's information for international students and TRU's ESL Department pages for further information.

I am an international student, who do I go to for help with my student visa?

TRU World is the university's international department, and they can provide advice and assistance to international students on all aspects of your future studies at TRU from visa applications, housing options, English language training, and details on the city of Kamloops.

Who do I contact about visiting the campus?

To tour the campus you can contact TRU's Campus Tours to book a time which is suitable to you.  Also, you can contact your supervisor or department head to arrange a visit.
