The Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon) was established to serve the four western provinces.
Admission to WCVM requires at least two full years of post-secondary science courses. Because of the intense competition for entry to the veterinary program, potential students are advised to undertake a program of post-secondary study which will lead to an alternative career goal, should they fail to gain admission to veterinary medicine. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative average of 70 percent in order to be considered for admission into the veterinary program. All grades are converted to a common scale for comparative purposes and this converted average will be used.
