Thailand Nursing Students

Thailand is a constitutional monarchy, with a democratically elected Prime Minister as the head of government and a hereditary Thai King as head of state. The country has a long rich history and a diverse economic well being, from the urbanized cosmopolitan Bangkok to the southern tourist zone to the northeastern rural agricultural areas. Thailand is a middle income country reliant on exports, notably it is the world’s largest exporter of rice. The country achieved universal health care for Thai citizens in 2002 and has created a vibrant primary health care system focusing on health promotion using a people-centered approach. The practicum placement is located in rural northeastern Thailand. Through a partnership with Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Udon Thani, students will have the opportunity to gain valuable nursing experience and develop cultural competence while working along side Thai nurses in community development, primary, secondary and tertiary care placements. Students will also have the opportunity to interact with Thai nursing students in academic, cultural and social settings.
