Aboriginal Youth Health and Science Camp
In collaboration with the Eureka Science Program TRU offers a one week Science and
Health Science Summer Camp for Aboriginal youth. Nursing faculty, students, and
graduates all figure prominently in running this event. Participants stay on campus in
Kamloops and take part in activities where they can: explore interests related to health
and science programs and careers, explore health and wellness from Traditional and
western perspectives, learn from Aboriginal role models about being a post-secondary
student and working as a health professional, familiarize themselves with the campuses
of Thompson Rivers University and the many activities and supports available for students,
and most of all – take part in some of the summer events that take place in Kamloops as
they meet youth from around the province and make new friends.
