TRU-Start
School District #73 and Thompson Rivers University are working together to create new opportunities for secondary school students to earn university credits while completing their Grade 12 graduation requirements through Dual Credit Courses or Programs.
** For BC students outside of School District #73 (Kamloops & area), please see TRU Start BC. **
This unique initiative enables “Dual Credit Courses and Programs” to be offered to the students of School District #73 by the faculty of Thompson Rivers University.
Students successfully completing one or two Dual Credit Course(s) or a 1-year Certificate Program will receive elective credits towards their Secondary School Graduation, as well as university credit course(s) with Thompson Rivers University.
This offering enables students to:
- begin their university journey early
- take one or two university course(s) or a one-year university certificate program tuition-free
- experience university life while in secondary school for TRU on-campus courses
- experience post-secondary distance delivery courses and working with an on-line tutor for TRU Open Learning courses
To guarantee equal access for all Kamloops/Thompson grade 12 students a district committee will rank the applications received by the May 27, 2011 (November 25, 2011 for Winter Semester courses only) deadline.
Consideration will be given only to fully completed applications submitted to your Transitions Coordinator before the deadline.
It is recommended that students fill out the application as if they were applying for a job. The TRU/SD #73 Joint Transitions Committee hopes that you enjoy these course offerings.
