Connecting to TRU Library Resources:
From off-campus

Due to licensing agreements, access to some library databases and other electronic resources, such as electronic journals, is restricted to computers on the TRU Campus. Access to these resources from home computers must be through the Library Proxy Server.

Basic Requirements to get off-campus access:
  • You must have a home computer with an Internet connection.
  • You must be a TRU faculty or staff member, or a currently registered student
  • You must have your TRU Library account activated.
Returning students/faculty will need to come to the library to reactivate your library account. Your library PIN will be the same as last year. However, if you've never activated your library account or are new to TRU, your initial library PIN is based on your 6-digit birthdate (YYMMDD).

It is a good idea to change your PIN to something that is easy for you to remember. Your PIN can be a combination of letters and numbers. Be aware that our automated system is case-sensitive. (i.e. the password "shadow1" is not the same as "Shadow1" or "SHADOW1").

Note: Library PINs are not issued over the telephone

    • Check to make sure that you typed in your PIN correctly. If you are unsure of your PIN, check at the Library Checkout Desk. You must do this in person and have your TRU Campus card for identification; PINs will not be issued over the telephone
  • if your library privileges have expired
    • if you are a currently registered student or current TRU Faculty/staff and your library privileges have expired, you must come in to the library and have your TRU Campus card for identification; privileges will not be renewed over the telephone.
  • if your library account is "Blocked" because of accrued library fines (i.e. $10 or more for students).
    • To remove the Blocked status from your library account, return or renew library materials and pay any outstanding library fines.
  • if you are a Community Library User
    • Due to license restrictions, Community Library Users are not allowed remote access to licensed TRU Library resources. You may use these electronic resources, but only in the Library.
