Irving K. Barber Summit on Leadership in Aboriginal Education
a focus on the interior of B.C.
A representative from your First Nation is invited to attend Thompson Rivers University’s Ike. K. Barber summit on Leadership in Aboriginal Education in Kamloops, B.C. This summit is free of charge and includes accommodation at the TRU Student Residence, access to all conference presentations, guest speakers, topical discussion opportunities and you will also be fed!
The summit is open to First Nations and Aboriginal representatives in the Interior who have received invitations. If you have not received an invitation, contact the TRU Aboriginal Education Centre at 250-828-5227.
The purpose of the summit is to attract Aboriginal people and post secondary educators to the innovative Irving K. Barber British Columbia Center to share and discuss aspects of educational leadership that lead to Aboriginal success in post secondary education. Topics will include:
- Student services
- Successful programming
- Community/organization partnerships
- Indigenization
- Innovation

Conference participants will engage in large and small group activities to develop strategies to support individual and institutional leadership in post secondary education. Conference proceedings will be sent to all participants.
