Call for Papers is now CLOSED

The conference will be organized in 6 main sessions covering the following broad topics:
  1. Monitoring of forest biodiversity at different spatial scales
  2. Biodiversity and forest ecosystem functioning
  3. Biodiversity conservation in forested landscapes
  4. Biodiversity and ecosystem goods and services
  5. Biodiversity in managed forests
  6. Mountain forests and biodiversity management

Papers dealing with forest biodiversity and climate change are welcome in all sessions of the conference.

Concurrent sessions will not be held at the conference. This will allow all participants to attend all of the presentations and to participate in multi-disciplinary discussions. An interactive poster session is also proposed. The program will include a one-day in conference field tour and there will be an optional post conference tour.

Prospective participants are invited to submit abstracts for contributed papers and posters addressing the purposes and topics of the Conference as described above. The deadline for abstracts has been extended and abstracts of 300 words or less are now due by April 30th 2008 and should be submitted electronically on the accompanying page.

All scientists wishing to participate in the conference are requested to complete the expression of interest form. Those indicating their interest will receive regular updates on conference arrangements.

Students are encouraged to participate in the conference. A reduced rate for conference fees has been made available to assist their participation. Awards will be made for the best student presentations in oral and poster form.

The Conference Scientific Committee will review submitted abstracts to determine acceptance and appropriate session assignment. Abstract submitters will be notified of acceptance on or before May 15th 2008.  Plenary, special topic and poster sessions are being planned. Space will be available for poster display throughout the Conference and will be highlighted during the Conference. The Scientific Committee is open to proposals for special workshops and complementary side meetings.

A dedicated session of the conference will be reserved for poster presentations.

Abstracts of all accepted presentations (oral and poster) will be published on line and distributed at the Conference.

Plans are being made to publish the proceedings of the meeting as a special publication of the Ministry of Forests and Range Victoria BC, subject to funding. Delegates wishing to have their presentation included in the publication should submit a manuscript by August 8th 2008. Further instructions will be made available in the 3rd announcement and on-line.

  • The Conference does not reimburse authors for expenses incurred either in preparation of abstracts or final papers and posters, or for travelling to the Conference.
  • Authors who are travelling to the Conference from outside of Canada are solely responsible for obtaining all necessary travel documents. The Conference organizing committee cannot assist in these arrangements in any way.
