Network Account (formerly known as Novell account)

WHAT IS MY NETWORK ACCOUNT?

You must know your Network Account to:
  • login to the network on lab computers on campus – this provides you with your own private data storage of 250 mb on the student server – drive F:\
  • access the Wireless Network on campus (tru or eduroam) -
  • access the student Network drives (F:\ and H:\) from home using Remote Access

What is my login name and password for the Network Account?

Your "initial password" will be your birth date in the following format: dd-Mmm-yy (include the dashes and upper case letter).  For example: If your birthday is Sept. 10, 1993 your initial password would be 10-Sep-93

Setting a New Strong Password for your Network Account

To protect yourself and your personal information you are required to set a new strong password. Login to a lab computer, go to truidvault.tru.ca and click Login in the top right corner. Login to TRU Identity Manager with your current Network login name and password. Click on Change Password.

Set your new password using the following rules:

  • it must be between 8 and 20 characters long
  • it must be a combination of letters and numbers
  • there must be uppercase and lowercase letters
  • it is case sensitive and cannot be set to your date of birth

Once your new password is set, it will remain in effect for one year.

Your Network account and password allows you to login to a campus lab computer and save your data to the student server (Camelot) F: drive when you are on campus. This account provides you with 250Mb of private data storage space on the student network. There is also an “H:” drive that instructors may use for hosting files such as class notes and assignments.

While on campus, you can use your own laptop to access the Wireless Network. Use your Network account and password to access either TRU Wireless or Eduroam. Eduroam is more secure and can be used at other campuses. To activate your wireless account, you will need to log on to one of the lab computers with your Network account. Press "Enter" at the second login prompt. DO NOT re-enter your login at this prompt.

The same Network ID and password will allow you to access your network files through Remote Access from any computer that is connected through the wireless network or not on campus.
