All Faculty, Staff, and Student Lab Dell Desktop PC’s and LCD Monitors are on a 3 year lease program. Click here to view current lease computer configuration.

As part of a one year pilot project, when a current leased computer is up for replacement, a laptop option is now being offered as a choice instead of a desktop. Click here to view the current lease laptop configuation.

If you have a business requirement to use a Mac instead of a PC, you will need the approval of your Dean or Department Head and the approval of the AVP, Information Technology Services and CIO.

Your division will be charged an additional cost (over the cost of the standard PC) for the Mac in order to fund the 3 year lease . Click here to view the current lease mac computer configuration Also be aware that the Mac will be assigned to that departmental position for the full 3 year lease.

Faculty may purchase the laptop computer of their choice through Purchasing. They are able to borrow Office and Sophos software for home use to install on the computer. Faculty can also download the full version of GroupWise from our website. The Operating system on most new computers will be Windows 7, which is an operating system that our IT staff has limited experience with. The only way to connect to the TRU network would be through wireless, which in most cases will suffice.  Printing to a network printer is not an option. It is strongly recommended that a 3 year warranty is purchased as well.

We do our best to do basic triage when a client comes to us for assistance, but if the problem appears to be a hardware issue, we would recommend that the client go back to the vendor for servicing.
