Spyware and Adware are programs that are written that allow others to snoop on your browsing activity, invade your privacy, and flood you with popups. If you are like most users on the internet, chances are you are probably infected with these applications.
Note - Adware and Ad-Aware are 2 different things entirely. Adware is bad, Ad-Aware is good. Ad-Aware is the program that finds and removes the Adware .

Ad-Aware Home - Free for home use . Easiest to use.

SpyBot Search and Destroy - Free online. Very good product but a bit tougher to use.

MalwareBytes - Free online - This software is relatively (Jan 2009) new and is the only one to remove some of the more persistent Malware programs.
