How To Setup a GroupWise Junk E-Mail (SPAM) Rule

titleAs of Tuesday, February 11, 2003 all e-mail being sent to GroupWise user will pass through a filter that will place "[Suspected Junk E-Mail]" in the subject line of any e-mail whose contents contain patterns associated with junk e-mail (SPAM).

The following is a description of how to setup a rule in GroupWise to automatically place this e-mail into your trash. You should check e-mail placed in the trash to make sure that it does not contain valid e-mail messages.

  1. Click on "Tools" in the menu on the top of the GroupWise client and select "Rules".

  1. In the "Rules" box select "New...".

  1. In the "New Rule" box enter a "Rule name:" (e.g. junk-mail),
    select "Received" when the event is a "New Item",
    select "Mail" under "Item Types", and
    click on the "Define Conditions..." box.

  1. In the "Define Conditions" box include entries where "subject" contains...

  1. ... "[Suspected Junk Mail]" ... and click OK.

  1. Then under "Add Action" select "Delete/Decline...".

  1. In the "Decline with Options" box select OK.

  1. Click on "Save".

This rule will place any messages containing "[Suspect Junk Mail]" in the subject line into your trash.
