GroupWise Introduction @ TRU
Currently TRU is running a variety of packages to provide email and scheduling needs. For example staff and faculty are using PINE, Eudora, and Netscape Mail to send messages. There are also a few offices that are using Schedule+ to manage appointments, task lists, etc.
GroupWise provides email, scheduling, and task list management as well as many other features in one software package. A single package means that as a user learns about one feature they can apply much of what they have learned to another. They can also take advantage of the features GroupWise provides to convert one type of message into another. For example an email message can be turned into a appointment and vise versa. In addition, a single package is easier to manage and administrate.
Since all of the messages reside in a database on a Novell server users can access and work with all of their messages from home (using WebAccess) or work (GroupWise Client). Currently email packages like Eudora and Netscape Mail do not allow the user to access messages from home that were sent or received on their work PC. Schedule+ does not provide any method for updating appointments from off campus.
Now that you know a little about GroupWise you probably want to start using it. If the GroupWise client has been setup on your PC and you've been given your GroupWise account click
