Faculty can easily book an Elluminate learning space for teaching, or for their own use. Some typical examples of how faculty can use Elluminate:

• Virtual Classrooms
• Student/Teacher Meetings
• Remote Guest Speakers
• Collaboration Meetings
• Brainstorming Sessions

Conatct the IT Service Desk at ITServicedesk@tru.ca or call 250-852-6800 to schedule. Please expect one to two business days to process your request. In addition, please provide the following information:

• Your name
• Phone number
• Class/Session name
• Time, and days
• Duration of session(s)

Things that you will need include: a web camera; a headset with microphone, and a computer with an internet connection.

Things a student will need include:  a computer with an internet connection; however, to use video and voice they need a web camera; and a headset with microphone.

Once your Elluminate request is processed, you will be sent an email that contains the weblink to your learning space. When the weblink is clicked on, you will be taken directly to your Elluminate learning space with moderator privileges.

The first time that you access Elluminate, a small java application will pop-up and "automatically" install the required software. This process does not require any interaction from you; when you are in, this process will end. If you have difficulty at any point, please contact the IT Service Desk.

Once you are in the learning space, you are able to click on the invite members button to invite participants. This will atomically generate an email, with the required link; you send this link to the participants. They then use this link to get into your session.

**You might want to book a separate session for yourself, before hand, to become familiar with the environment.

Before you deploy a live session it is recommended that you prepare yourself ahead of time. The following information will assist you in doing this.
