Gallant Rotobelt Safety
- Wear leather work gloves and eye and face protection when operating this piece of equipment.
- The
rotobelt must be operated with the belt guard in place as sanders can
cause serious burns and injuries when the rapidly moving abrasive belt
touches the body.
- Persons using the rotobelt sander must
be thoroughly trained in its operation, as it is impossible to guard
the operation completely.
- Only abrasive belts that are the recommended 4 inches wide are to be used.
- Always keep face and hands clear of the moving parts such as belts and pulleys.
- Use jigs or fixtures to hold the workpiece, whenever feasible.
- Remove any tools from the working area that may get in the way.
- Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Tie hair back.
- Do not use the contact wheel by holding a workpiece against the turning direction.
- Remove any material that might be ignited by sparks from sanded metal.
- When making repairs or maintaining the machine, ensure that the disconnect switch is locked in the OFF position.
