Gallant Rotobelt Safety

  1. Wear leather work gloves and eye and face protection when operating this piece of equipment.
  2. The rotobelt must be operated with the belt guard in place as sanders can cause serious burns and injuries when the rapidly moving abrasive belt touches the body.
  3. Persons using the rotobelt sander must be thoroughly trained in its operation, as it is impossible to guard the operation completely.
  4. Only abrasive belts that are the recommended 4 inches wide are to be used.
  5. Always keep face and hands clear of the moving parts such as belts and pulleys.
  6. Use jigs or fixtures to hold the workpiece, whenever feasible.
  7. Remove any tools from the working area that may get in the way.
  8. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Tie hair back.
  9. Do not use the contact wheel by holding a workpiece against the turning direction.
  10. Remove any material that might be ignited by sparks from sanded metal.
  11. When making repairs or maintaining the machine, ensure that the disconnect switch is locked in the OFF position.
