Safety Resources

If you experience a threat to your safety, let someone know. Reporting incidents can bring greater attention to safety needs and lead to more effective programs and services.

You can also obtain further information and/or discuss your concerns with your student association, union, the administrative head of the unit, or with one of the following services:

Uniformed Security staff patrol the campus 24 hours a day

Occupational Health and Safety

Occupational Health and Safety develops and promotes personal safety training and awareness and administers related programs. This includes identifying and responding to personal safety risks, promoting awareness of risks and support services, and recommending procedures to enhance an effective TRU response to incidents. This office also helps develop and promote measures aimed at dealing with violent, threatening, dangerous, and disruptive behaviour by anyone on campus.

Health Services

The TRU Clinic, located in Old Main - Lower Level (Room OM1461) is open Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm and closed from 12:00 to 1:00pm. The Clinic is available to all registered Students, Staff and Faculty of TRU. Children from Cariboo Child Care will be seen for emergencies. A full-time physician, is available for appointments weekdays. The clinic staff also includes a medical office assistant. Human Rights Officer

TRU's Human Rights Officer assists individuals who have experienced discrimination and harassment. The Human Rights Officer is available for confidential advice in regard to possible discrimination or harassment claims and is responsible for administering the Respectful Workplace and Harassment Prevention Policy

Counselling Services

Professional counsellors in Counselling Services are available to work with students to help them address personal, career or educational concerns. All counselling is confidential.

Employee and Family Assistance Program

EFAP is a self-referred counselling service available to most TRU employees. All information is confidential; TRU is not informed of the identity of those using EFAP. This benefit covers the cost of short-term counselling, assessment, and referral. The service is provided by Ceridian Lifeworks, a confidential counselling service.

Wellness Center

The TRU Wellness Centre promotes the well-being of our growing, changing, diverse TRU community.
