Counsellor - Counselling


Sessional

DUTIES:

The successful candidate will deliver personal, crisis, career and academic success counselling.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Related to the Job:

· knowledge of Aboriginal culture, current and historical issues affecting Aboriginal peoples, and traditional Indigenous health and healing practices

· Knowledge of and experience with group facilitation and training

· Knowledge of and experience with career counselling

· Knowledge of and experience working with a range of personal counselling issues, including mental health (specifically depression and anxiety), grief and loss, relationships and substance abuse

Required Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in Counselling, Psychology or equivalent with supervised clinical experience at the graduate level

· Experience in using the Strong Interest Inventory or equivalent career planning tool

· Two years of experience providing counselling in a post secondary (or equivalent) setting

Under Section 43 (3) of the BC Human Rights Code, this posting is open to Aboriginal persons only.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: April 1, 2013 to March 28, 2014
