DUTIES:
The B.Ed. Program in the School of Education invites applications for a sessional faculty member to teach EDPY 4150 (Special Education: Specific Learning Disabilities) in the Bachelor of Education. The course will run in a condensed four week format from March 25 to April 19, 2013.
The course will focus on:
· The historical perspective on learning disabilities
· An overview of relevant theoretical frameworks and models of learning disabilities
· Current legislation in British Columbia and its relationship to school districts
· Screening, assessment, and identification practices
· Intervention strategies and how these affect classroom practice
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum Master’s Degree in Special Education; PhD preferred
· Recent experience teaching and/or working with exceptional learners in a school setting
· Previous post-secondary teaching experience preferred
· Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: March 25, 2013 to April 19, 2013
