(Social Work & Human Service) Sessional - Lecturer - Williams Lake


DUTIES:

The School of Social Work and Human Service at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a sessional lecturer to teach the following course:

HUMS1600/CSSW 1650 Field Work

The successful candidate with co-teach and act as faculty liaison in a combined section of the first year practicum courses in the Human Service Diploma program and the Community & School Support Program at the William Lake campus.

The purpose of each course:

HUMS 1600:

This fieldwork course provides the link between the classroom and the work place using a blended service learning model. Under supervision, students will integrate core concepts of social service practice within teams in a fieldwork agency. It is in the field that the relationship between theory and practice is clarified, and skills practiced.

CSSW 1650

This course requires that students complete a practicum in a facility/agency/school that provides service to people with various challenges. This practicum gives students an opportunity to apply classroom learning to field experiences and helps students identify and address the issues and demands of work in this field.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Master’s degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care or related discipline required

· Successful teaching experience in post-secondary institutions preferred

· A minimum of five years of related practice experience, and educational specialization for content specific courses

· Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: January 7, 2013 to April 30, 2013
