(Writing Centre) Instructional Support - Faculty of Student Development

DUTIES:

The TRU Writing Centre invites applications for a short-term, part-time position. Typically the applicant will work 280 hours. These hours will vary per week according to the Writing Centre hours and scheduling.

The successful applicant will:

· provide leadership, formal training, and one-on-one training to the tutors, especially in regard to helping international students;

· participate in the regular duties of a tutor at the Writing Centre, helping students face-to-face and online;

· supervise the work study students, and assist the Coordinator with administrative duties and workshops where help is needed;

· help the Coordinator increase online resources for students

· promote and represent the Centre at university functions

· update social media to promote student engagement and learning

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Minimum of a Master’s degree with a record of expertise in writing

· Experience working in an educational setting with international students and teaching ESAL

· Presentation experience and knowledge of new pedagogical technologies (e.g., the use of video podcasting, web design, video conferencing)

· Computer literacy is required

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: As soon as successful candidate is available to March 31, 2013
