Raising and managing funds is accomplished by a volunteer Board of Directors, a society of community leaders, staff members and significant support from a large complement of volunteers.

How You Can Give: Donating to TRU

Cash Donations

You may designate cash donations to provide scholarships or bursaries, to fund a special project, or leave it "unrestricted" and know your donation is going to the area of greatest need. Funding may be donated to support students with financial need or purchases in specific faculties, fund field trips or purchase equipment, for example.

Annual Fund Gifts

These awards are given annually from the donor to support a student in a particular program. This is a popular area of giving for community groups, businesses and professional associations. After the fund has been established, the Foundation will request the annual commitment and the donor will be invited to present the award at the Student Award ceremony. Donors and students meet face to face and have a chance to visit at this unique event.

Endowment Funds

These funds are created by larger cash gifts that provide a living reminder of a donor's generosity. Interest from these funds can be designated for specific uses or its application left to the discretion of the Foundation. Many private endowments have been established as memorials to family members and friends. The minimum amount for a named endowment is $20,000.00. The donor can establish an endowed fund with a one-time gift, or a pledge to accumulate the funds over 3 years.

Gifts-In-Kind

Gifts cover a wide range of products and equipment. On behalf of TRU, the Foundation has accepted gifts of computers, vehicles, heavy equipment, books and works of art. A tax receipt will be issued based on a fair market value appraisal. These sorts of gifts often provide donors with immediate or estate planning tax benefits.
