Co-Op

Investment: $5-10k

Description: At TRU, we are committed to provide Co-Op opportunities for our undergrad students – in areas of study including: Natural Resource Sciences, Geology, Engineering Transfer, Architecture and Chemistry.


Professorship in Reclamation & Ecosystem Restoration

Investment: $120k (annually)

Timeline: Spring 2014

Description: In the year ahead, we are looking to establish a Professorship in Reclamation and Ecosystem Restoration for a TRU faculty member. The annual salaried position will fund specialized studies in reclamation and ecosystem restoration, including expertise plant ecology, hydrology, soils and wildlife habitat.


Professional Development

Investment: $25k

Timeline: Spring 2014

Description: Professional development is essential and we need ongoing funding to help Science faculty attend specialized conferences & events. Participating in such events also provide excellent opportunities to share research, network with colleagues and identify new prospective community partners for Co-op projects and industry research.


NSERC IPS

Investment: $6-10k

Timeline: Spring 2014

Description – In order to qualify for an NSERC grant, a private company contributes certain amount, which then gets leveraged to $21k for a graduate student to complete a focused project. The student spends 20% of time working with the industry partner and is given full access to labs, etc. We are seeking industry partners to participate in these types of focused projects.


NSERC ENGAGE Grant

Investment: $10-20k

Timeline: Spring 2014

Description – PNSERC ENGAGE grants are project specific, with a short turnaround, supporting a grad student.


NSERC CREATE Grant

Investment: $100k

Timeline: Spring 2014

Description – The CREATE Program (Collaborative Research and Training Experience Program) is designed to improve the mentoring and training environment for the Canadian researchers of tomorrow by improving areas such as communication, collaboration and professional skills, as well as providing experience relevant to both academic and non-academic research environments.


NSERC IGNITE Grant

Investment: $100k

Timeline: Spring 2014

Description – The NSERC IGNITE grants are project specific and support grads.


Restoration / Ecology Group

Investment: $200k

Timeline: Spring 2014

Description: TRU’s Restoration & Ecology group is comprised of Natural Resource Science, Chemistry, Computation, Optimization & Decision Science (CODS) faculty and students. The group formed to solve big problems affecting society and industry, and requires funding to help advance its mission and projects.
