Take a free course this summer!
Most TRU students who were full-time during the regular school year and are taking one or two courses* this summer can qualify to have their tuition, fees, and books paid by a Canada Student Grant. Apply by the end of the first week of classes (for Session 1 & 2) to allow time for processing and disbursement.
Pick up an application from Financial Aid & Awards in OM 1631, or download the Information Sheet
and Part-time Studies Application
. Submit the completed application to Financial Aid & Awards (OM 1631, across from the Campus Cashier). Call 250-828-5024 if you have any questions.
To qualify, you must:
- be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident
- have a 2011 taxable income of less than $14,100 (higher if you are married or have dependents)
- enrol in post-secondary campus or distance courses for credit (audited courses do not qualify for funding)
*Full-time students may enrol into a maximum of 12 credits total during the summer semester with a limit of 6 credits per session. Students are considered part-time in summer if they enrol in less than nine undergraduate credits total during the summer semester, in any summer session combination.
Warning: Students must be aware that if a summer course for which they are registered is cancelled and they do not enrol in another course, this could result in their not having enough credits for their government student funding after it has been negotiated. Students who are not enrolled with enough credits may have to repay their summer funding, and if they do not repay, they might not receive adequate funding the next semester.
