Study Abroad AmbassadorAward - $2000

A limited number of awards of $2000 each are available for students who have returned from a TRU approved Study Abroad program at either a bilateral or ISEP partner institution. Awards will be allocated among the various TRU faculties, and are intended to offer an incentive to returned students to act as Ambassadors for the Study Abroad program. The award is competitive and assessments will consider several key criteria: the record of the student in applying for Study Abroad, reports and correspondence from the student’s host university abroad regarding any challenges or attributes, the transcript of the student’s academic achievements while abroad, the student’s academic transcript at TRU, and the written statement submitted by the student.

Applicants must:

  • participate regularly in both Fall 2012 and Winter 2013 in the Study Abroad Ambassador Council, a forum of returned students mandated to assist in promoting Study Abroad at TRU
  • submit a written statement of no more than 1000 words that covers two key concepts: (1) the impact of Study Abroad on the student’s life and (2) a plan or list of ideas describing what the student will do to promote the concept, benefits and opportunities available through Study Abroad
  • remain enrolled full time (minimum nine post-secondary credits) at TRU for both Fall 2012 and Winter 2013
  • have successfully completed a one or two semester TRU Study Abroad approved program at a partner institution in another country
  • have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average at TRU of 2.50

The award will be applied as a tuition credit of $1000 in September of 2012, with the remaining $1000 applied as a tuition credit in January of 2013.
