Adult Basic Education Student Assistance Program (ABESAP)
Detailed Information for Students
ABESAP Application Form
The Adult Basic Education Student Assistance Program provides need-based grants for BC residents who wish to access pre-university level courses.
ABESAP can provide funding assistance for direct educational costs such as tuition and books for programs such as Basic Literacy, Academic Upgrading, Pre-Vocational programs, English as a Second Language and Adult Special Education.
Students who qualify have the opportunity to be funded once for each course. If a course is not completed successfully, future funding for that course will be jeopardized.
Funding is awarded on a first come, first served basis, so it is important to pay close attention to application dates.
Applications will start being accepted as follows:
Fall Semester July 4
Winter Semester November 1
Summer Semester April 1
Students attending classes at the Kamloops campus submit their completed forms to the Financial Aid & Awards Office (OM 1631). Students at the other centres return their forms to the general office.
Applications are assessed at the Financial Aid and Awards Office by a Student Finance Advisor.
Students who are applying for continued funding must demonstrate successful completion of previous courses.
