First Nations Studies

TRU-OL is assisting community-based First Nations Learning Centres across the province. At these centres, First Nations students study Adult Basic Education (ABE) upgrading courses and programs, business and other college courses, and some university-level courses.

TRU-OL offers the following courses in First Nations studies in Consortium Partnership with SFU:
FNST 1019, First Nations Studies I
FNST 2019, First Nations Studies II

Please Note: There are differences between Consortium Courses and TRU-OL delivered courses.

  • Consortium Courses are usually paced courses, unlike most TRU-OL courses, with fixed start and end dates, most often beginning in January, May, and September. Early registration is recommended, usually two to three months before the start date, because space is limited.
  • Students receive their course packages from the educational partner, not TRU-OL.
  • Consortium Courses have different cancellation, withdrawal, extension, repeat registration, examination, and refund and returns policies.
  • TRU-OL employees cannot fully assist with inquiries about consortium courses like they can for TRU-OL courses. For example, TRU-OL cannot trace Materials Orders from another educational institution.
