Distance and Online Learning
Distance and online education through Thompson Rivers University, Open Learning (TRU-OL) gives you the opportunity to take university courses in the format of your choice and at a pace and place that suits you.
Open Learning provides options
When you take an online or distance course through Open Learning, you control when and where you learn.
Completing your post-secondary education through TRU-OL means you can study independently with the guidance of an Open Learning Faculty Member who grades and comments on your work, and you can also study online, communicating with both the course Open Learning Faculty Member and other students in a virtual classroom.
While distance learning may imply a separation between instructor and learner, and between fellow learners, you will find that in your virtual classroom you can bridge that distance. No matter what course you choose or what method it is being delivered - from print to web to online - one thing remains the same: support from TRU-OL is always available. Your Open Learning Faculty Member is your first resource, but there are many other people and services available to you through TRU-OL and it is this support that will make your online learning experience a success from the start.
