Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR)
Earn academic credits for knowledge, training and skills you have gained through work and life experience.

Applicants must have a proficiency in English at a level suitable to the course or program of study for which they are applying. Students who have English as a second language may be required to provide evidence of proficiency in English. Refer to detailed information about the English proficiency requirement. Please note that some courses may require higher levels of proficiency (such as for the HEAL courses and certain partnership agreements).

Most TRU programs offered through Open Learning have residency requirements as specified in the program descriptions. Residency requirements are the number of TRU-OL courses or credits that students must complete to graduate from a TRU program offered through Open Learning. (Students applying for financial assistance are required to meet specific residency requirements.)

Students who plan to complete a credential with TRU credential through Open Learning must complete and submit a Program Admission/Transfer Credit form.
