Transfer Credit Partnerships

Thompson Rivers University, Open Learning, has established transfer credit relationships with many public and private educational institutions as well as select industry organizations across Canada. Though many institutions engage in transfer credit arrangements with each other usually through formal articulation agreements, the terminology and processes surrounding such relationships can be confusing. Please refer to our Program FAQs for additional information. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please contact us directly at olpartnerships@tru.ca.

So, what does it mean to have a transfer credit opportunity? In short, a transfer credit (articulation) agreement allows a student who has graduated from one program, e.g., certificate or diploma, to apply the credit achieved to a higher credential, e.g., degree. Sometimes this taking of credit from one program and applying it to the graduation requirements of another is called ‘laddering.’ The credits that can be carried forward, or laddered, are predetermined through an articulation agreement. Articulation agreements with Thompson Rivers University, Open Learning, not only identify how much credit a graduate from a particular program can normally expect to receive but also identify what credits are remaining according to the requirements of our degree program.

Above you will find direct links to our current Transfer Credit partners. If you are a student or member of one of our partners, please go to the appropriate link to see what opportunities have been developed to further your education and career. If you don’t see either your current institution or organization, or the program you are currently in, please contact us directly to discuss how we could give formal recognition to your educational achievements.
