FAQs: Examinations

  1. I have passed my examination but did not complete the assignments. How do I get a final grade?

Your final grade will be calculated approximately one month after your course completion deadline if you have written and passed your exam but have not submitted all of your assignments. If you require more time to complete your assignments, you can apply for an 18 week extension prior to your course completion deadline.

If you do not pass your course, you have the option of re-registering for a second time. If you would like to re-register, please contact Student Services at 1-800-663-9711. Re-registrations cannot be completed online. Students who do not successfully complete a course and do not re-register are required to rewrite the final exam.

  2. If I don't apply for my last eligible examination session by the deadline, what can I do?

You may request a paid course extension by completing and submitting the Course Extension Request form. Not all courses are eligible for extensions (e.g. labs, on-site, paced, group delivery and other selected courses). Contact Student Services at 1.800.663.9711 to confirm eligibility.

You are permitted one extension per course if the course delivered by TRU-OL is eligible for extension. Students are required to request the extension by the course completion date. If the completion date has passed, students are required to re-register to complete the course. Refer to your welcome letter or contact Student Services to confirm your course end date.

Courses eligible for extensions are extended by 18 weeks from the original course completion date.

When you request an extension, a grade of "XT" appears on your official transcript. The letter grade is entered for the extension course entry.

You will receive a new Welcome Letter about the update course completion date and examination information.

You are not automatically scheduled to write an examination during your extension. You must apply to schedule your examination.

You may not cancel your registration in or withdraw from, a course that has been extended.

Note to full-time financial aid students: A course extension makes the course unsuccessful for student loan purposes, regardless of the mark obtained.
