Guest Information

Parents, family, and friends are welcome to celebrate the accomplishments of TRU's graduands at their Convocation ceremony. TRU does not restrict the number of guests attending the ceremonies.  Thompson Rivers University holds the spring ceremonies outdoors on the Campus Commons, in front of the Campus Activity Centre.  There is ample seating outdoors for guests.  In the fall, the ceremony is held in the TRU Gymnasium where seating is limited, and is on a first-come, first-seated basis.

As guest seating is not covered outdoors, please dress comfortably for weather conditions on the day of the ceremony.

Reception

Graduates and guests are invited to have light refreshments following the ceremony.  Weather permitting, the reception is held behind the Campus Activity Centre in the Horticulture Gardens. The gardens are also a popular location for taking photographs after the ceremony. If the weather is unsuitable, the reception will be in the Rotunda of the Campus Activity Centre.

Roses for Grads

Fresh roses are available for purchase on the day of the Ceremony.  The TRU Alumni Association uses the proceeds from the sale of roses for student programs, particularly mentorship programs for matching potential employers with students

If you are unable to attend the ceremony in person, the ceremony will be broadcast live over the internet from this website.
