This course is designed to assist you in preparing to write the G.E.D. Grade 12 equivalency exam. Five areas of study include: Writing Skills, Social studies, Science, Interpreting Literature and Arts and Mathematics. Exam fee is payable to Ministry of Education in Victoria and must be received 28 days prior to test date.
PART TIME LIFE-SKILLS
Money Skills I & II ASET 1060 FALL Semester

The course is designed to address the individual needs of the student in the area of Money Skills and/or Basic Banking Skills. Students will have the opportunity of working in groups. A wide range of topics in each area will be covered. Instruction will involve practical application, where possible, to prepare the individual for more independent living. Assignments to be done at home will be part of the course. For students who desire to improve skills with money. Students must be able to recognize and use numbers 1-10, and recognize coins and their values. Students may be asked for a nominal fee to cover field work.
Computer Literacy - XASE 1280 WINTER SEMESTER
(24 sessions)
This course will help the students become more at ease with a computer. Students will gain a basic knowledge of the computer and its uses in daily life. Students will work with Microsoft Word processing program and Microsoft Publisher program. Students will learn to key, edit, format, print and save material. They will also learn to search for information by being introduced to the Internet. Students will also have the opportunity to communicate by use of web mail. This program is relevant for students with a disability who wish to become more familiar and more comfortable with computers. Students must know and recognize all letters of the alphabet.
Life-Skills Reading I - ASET 1160 FALL SEMESTER
(24 sessions)
This course is designed for students who wish to improve their current reading skills. Vocabularies will be developed from a number of life skill areas such as recipe reading, newspapers or directions on household products. The course includes both in-class assignments and some homework. Students may be asked for a nominal fee to cover field work.
Life-Skills Reading II ASET 1290 WINTER SEMESTER
(24 sessions)
This course is designed for students who wish to improve their current reading skills. Vocabularies will be developed from a number of life skill areas, as well as areas of individual student interest, within the context of Life Long learning. Our curriculum encourages independent thinking, problem solving, and self awareness.
