Because we are a Cost Recovery Department, there are no refunds once a course starts. Courses are checked one week prior to the start of each course & if there are not enough registrants, the course will be cancelled. PLEASE REGISTER EARLY. To receive a refund, a person must withdraw one week prior to the start of the course. If the course falls on a Saturday or Sunday a withdrawal must be done the Friday previous. If the course is cancelled a full refund will be issued. Costs for courses can change periodically.
Pest Management and Pesticide Applicator Certificate (XHORT 0780)
Feb 24-26’11, Th-Sa $250 + books & examPrepare for the touch ministry certification exam. Books must be ordered at least 1 week prior to the start of the class by calling 1-800-282-7955.This 3-day course will review the safe handling of pesticides and the use of low toxicity products. There will be a strong emphasis on Integrated Pest Management and non-chemical methods of control for problems caused by insects, diseases and weeds. Topics covered will include understanding labels, environmental safety, protective equipment, many practical problems for calibration, and slide pictures for diagnostic of different pest problems.
The course will be of interest for persons using pesticides in a workplace, selling pesticides, or seeking employment with farms, landscape companies, pest control companies, forest companies, nurseries, or garden centres. It will prepare candidates for the provincial examination for the "Pesticide Applicator Certificate" or the "Pesticide Dispenser Certificate". Before the start of the class, participants must purchase study books from the Office Products Centre at 1-800-282-7955. Order study books in the appropriate category (agriculture, landscape, forestry, structural, dispenser, etc.). Allow one week for delivery.
Pesticide Dispenser Certificate (HORT 088)
Apr 12-13, T-W - 8:30am-4:00pm, T/W $185 + books & exam
This class is for those selling pesticides to the public. Books must be ordered at least one week before class by calling 1-800-282-795
This class is for persons working in stores selling pesticides to the public, such as garden centres or the garden section of hardware stores.
It is a 2-day class with the written examination on the second afternoon, leading to a government-issued certificate (required by law for stores selling pesticides). At lest 1-week before the start of class, participants should contact the Office Products Centre at 1-800-282-7955 and order study materials in the appropriate category.
