RESOURCES FOR CO-OP BTM STUDENTS

Get some up to date info on what is happening with the BC tourism sector!

British Columbia:

Go2- Resource for People in Tourism 
A fantastic site for all your tourism and hospitality related human resource needs. A must visit site for all BTM co-op students.

Marketing Research at Tourism Vancouver 
Has a wealth of info about the tourism sector in the city, and the travellers who visit.

Canada and the rest of the world:

Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council
Similiar to Go2, providing info vital to students seeking tourism and hospitality careers outside of BC.

Stats Canada 
Contains stats info that pertains to tourism.

The Daily 
Includes a summary of recently released stats that pertain to tourism. 

Canadian Tourism Commission 
Includes stats and research reports in the "CTX Business Centre" section. The site also contains ordering info for tourism publications.

World Tourism Organization 
(WTO) has an online statistics service and many tourism statistics publications; descriptions and ordering info can be found on the site.

The World Travel and Tourism Council 

Has some "key statistics" from a global perspective, a "travel and tourism tax barometer" (measuring taxation by 52 world destinations, including Vancouver), and many other research papers.

These sites do not necessarily contain any statistics, but have info about the tourism sector in BC.

The Ministry of Small Business and Economic Development
Is the provincial ministry responsible for the Tourism sector.

Tourism BC 
Is the provincial crown corporation responsible for "promoting BC as a preferred travel destination to the world".
 

BC Parks
A division of the Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection, has a statistics page which includes visitation statistics.
