How do I apply to Co-op?
Apply to Co-op ONLINE :
You will be asked to fill in your information and attach a Letter of application, Resume and Transcript(s).
Alternatively, you can print out and complete the Application Package and drop it off with the supporting documentation to our office - Old Main 1712.
Please note: There is NO FEE to apply to Co-op.
Am I eligible for admission to Co-op?
We certainly hope you are! To be sure, you need to refer to the TRU on-line calendar for the admission criteria used in your program. If you do not meet the admission criteria, you may request an individual assessment with a Co-op Coordinator.
What is included in my applications?
A letter of application (400 words max) which outlines your:
- Career goals, learning objectives and how a Co-op Work Term will further your career
- Experience, both volunteer and paid
- Background, relevant to your program area (eg. Business, Geography, Geology, computing, etc)
- Commitment to completing the Co-op Program, if accepted
A copy of your current resume including the names of three references.
A copy of your TRU transcript. An unofficial copy from the Registrar's office is acceptable but not an online version. If you have transferred from another institution, include this transcript. (First year Science and BNRS students must submit a copy of their high school transcript).
Copies of any other supporting documentation you consider relevant to your application (eg. Letters of reference, awards and scholarship letters, etc).
International Students Eligibility
International Students transferring to TRU from outside of Canada are required to complete a minimum of two academic semesters at TRU before they are eligible to apply for their first Co-op work term. This allows students time to adjust to their studies, community and culture. International students work-term success rate increases when given the time to adjust. To accommodate our International students, the Career Education Department now offers the required pre-work term Co-op 1000 course sections in the Fall, Winter and Summer semesters.
