The Effectiveness of Tax Incentives on the Charitable Giving Expenditures in Canada

This research explores the effectiveness of tax incentives on the level of charitable donation expenditures in Canada, and compares the effectiveness of tax incentives across different types of giving. To date, there has been no prior econometric analysis on charitable donation expenditures in Canada since the 1988 tax reform, which replaced charitable giving deductions with tax credits. 

Voluntary Participation in Community Economic Development in Canada: An Empirical Analysis

This empirical research on an individual’s decision to participate in community economic development (CED) initiatives in Canada is undertaken with the objective of attaining a better understanding how individuals make decisions to volunteer time towards CED initiatives and to determine whether the determinants of participation in CED are unique as compared to those of participation in volunteer activities in general.

Human Behaviour Experiments Under Catastrophic Climate Change Scenarios

Laura Lamb and Peter Tsigaris

We have recently applied for a SSHRC grant for funding to run a set of behavioural economics experiments on the broad topic of environmental policy. The experiments investigate the decision to allocate resources towards a public climate account is used to provide the public service of preventing or reducing climate change damages.

First Nations Well-being in Canada

Laura Lamb and Hafiz Rahman

This research is focused on developing a model to explain the divergence in levels of well-being among First Nation communities in Canada. The model is to be empirically tested with the use of data from Indian Affairs and Statistics Canada.
