Bachelor of Business Administration
Program Overview

The Bachelor of Business Administration degree is a 4-year program. TRU is a member of AACSB International the premier accreditation body for business degrees in North America and adheres closely to their academic standards.

aaUpon meeting the Admission Requirements, students receive a general education in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences in Years 1 & 2 as well as a strong grounding in accounting, economics, computing, statistics, and organization behaviour. This serves as the foundation for advanced study in business in Years 3 & 4

In Years 3 and 4, students take a Core of eight courses in key management areas. In addition to the Core, students must acquire a specialization in a functional area of business, including Accounting , New Venture Creation, Finance, Human Resources, International Business, Marketing and Information Technology. Students interested in Economics can also select that discipline, or those who want more breadth in their business studies can choose the General BBA.

Specializations take the form of majors consisting of eight or more courses. The majors prepare students to pursue a Professional Designation after graduation and provide the extensive course work needed to meet the core competencies established by the profession.

Students also have the option of completing a minor consisting of four course in a specific discipline or cross-disciplinary area. Minors currently available are: Accounting, Economics, New Venture, Finance,  Marketing, Human Resources Management, International Business, and Public Relations.  The purpose of a minor is to help students acquire knowledge to support their major area of study or to give them breadth in their business education.

During their studies, students will receive high quality instruction from accomplished academics and practitioners. Case studies, class presentations, guest speakers, field trips, company reports, simulations, and business competitions are all used extensively to enhance the student's learning experience. In 3rd and 4th Year, students can participate in an International Exchange for a semester, pursue the Co-operative Education Option, or complete an Honours Degree

As a BBA graduate, you will have strong writing, presentation, critical thinking, and people skills which our Advisory Committee stresses are the cornerstones of future success. Our graduates have demonstrated this ability to succeed in their careers too. Since the inception of the BBA, our accounting graduates have attained one of the highest pass rates of any B.C. university on the Uniform Final Exam for the Chartered Accountancy program.

Hard work is not without its rewards. Job prospects for BBA graduates are very good and students have the potential to rise quickly in Position and Salary if they apply themselves at work. Your future is a bright one if you enrol in the BBA.
