B.B.A. Major in Economics
Purpose, Goals, Targets
The purpose of a major in Economics within the B.B.A. is to introduce students to the core body of knowledge within the Economics discipline; thereby developing within the students a particular set of abilities or skills. First, it equips students with valuable techniques that will improve their managerial abilities to conduct pricing, cost benefit analysis and program analysis, forecasting and industry analysis. Secondly, students will learn how economics interacts and aids in all facets of business decisions. Thirdly, students will understand and analyse the economics of the regulatory process and the reaction of businesses to certain regulatory environments. The program is designed to provide students with the standard training offered in any other four year college and university. Emphasis will be given on the application of the basic tools to policy areas.
Employment Opportunities
It is anticipated that students will use the Major in Economics within the B.B.A. to enter such career paths as: provincial ministries, government agencies, crown corporations, financial services sector (insurance, banking, investment firms, etc), consulting firms, firms in the natural resources sector, Multi-nationals corporations, graduate studies in Economics, Business and Law, and self employment.

Program Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission to the B.B.A. program, students must have completed the lower division requirements as stated in the UCC calendar.
Program requirements
The Major in Economics requires 42 ECON/BUEC credits of which 24 must be at the 3000 and 4000 level, with a minimum of 6 at the 4000 level. BUEC 2040 must be completed with a C+ or better, or ECON 2900 may be substituted. ECON 2950 is required and ECON 3900 or ECON 3950 must be taken.

B.B.A. Minor in Economics
The Minor in Economics is designed for students who like economics but do not really want another BBA Major.
A BBA student with a C+ in BUEC 2040 (or a C- in ECON 2900 or ECON 2950) has all of the prerequisites needed for most upper level economics courses. Adding a minor in economics requires 12 credits of 3000 and/or 4000 level Economics (ECON or BUEC), excluding
ECON 3090. A list of all upper level courses is provided above. There is something there to enhance any BBA Major.
